SD4-BB Solar Lake Aerator with Battery Backup

The SD4-BB is US Solar Mounts’ large-capacity solar lake aerator with battery backup, built for ponds and small lakes up to 5 acres that need dependable subsurface aeration, nighttime runtime, and poor-weather reserve without utility power at the pond.

This system combines the high-output SD-4 aeration platform with the USSM 48-volt battery backup architecture. The SD-4 side of the system uses dual 3-phase brushless rocking piston compressors and four DB-36 stainless steel diffusers for strong, distributed airflow. The battery backup package adds four AGM batteries, MPPT solar charge control with Bluetooth, proprietary smart controls, automatic active ventilation, digital time-clock scheduling, and low-voltage battery protection.

For farms, ranches, rural properties, HOAs, parks, camps, golf courses, wildlife ponds, irrigation ponds, recreational lakes, and other off-grid water-quality projects, the SD4-BB gives you serious aeration capacity without trenching AC power to the shoreline. It helps increase dissolved oxygen, reduce stagnation, improve circulation, reduce odor, support fish health, improve water clarity, and promote natural biological breakdown of organic material.

High-Capacity SD-4 Aeration with Battery Backup

The SD4-BB is based on the SD-4 aeration platform, which is designed for larger ponds and higher-demand applications. Dual 3-phase brushless rocking piston compressors provide 5.6 SCFM of airflow and feed four diffuser outlets through full-flow brass ball valves. This allows the system to distribute air to four DB-36 stainless steel diffusers for improved circulation and oxygen transfer across a larger area.

48-Volt Backup Power for Night and Poor Weather

The battery backup section uses a 48-volt AGM battery bank with four batteries. This higher-voltage design improves system efficiency compared with lower-voltage battery layouts and provides reserve capacity for nighttime operation and extended poor-weather conditions. The system is designed for 24/7 aeration with up to 3 days of reserve under appropriate operating conditions.

Smart Controls, Scheduling, and Battery Protection

The proprietary smart controller gives the SD4-BB digital time-clock functionality for full runtime control and scheduled operation. It also actively manages the cooling system to protect the electronics, compressors, fan, and battery system. Low-voltage shutdown protects the AGM battery bank from excessive discharge, while MPPT charge control with Bluetooth improves solar charging performance and gives better visibility into system status.

Industrial-Grade Fit, Finish, and Serviceability

The SD4-BB is built with industrial-style controls, organized wire management, stainless steel hardware, screened air inlets and exhaust ports, magnetic easy-clean air intake screens, a powder-coated welded steel enclosure, and rugged solar mounting components. It is engineered for outdoor service, clean installation, and long-term reliability in demanding pond and lake environments.

The customer supplies a 3-inch Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 steel mounting pole with a 3.5-inch outside diameter. Do not use plastic pipe or tubing for the solar mounting pole.
