The SD1-BB is a complete solar pond aeration system with battery backup for ponds up to 1 acre, combining the proven SD-1 Solar Direct aerator platform with a 48-volt battery bank for nighttime operation and poor-weather reserve.

The SD1-BB is designed for property owners who want the benefits of solar pond aeration but need more than daytime-only operation. It uses the same professional-grade SD-1 aeration platform, always configured with two solar panels, and adds a 48-volt battery backup system that can keep aeration running through the night and during extended periods of limited sunlight.

For remote ponds, residential ponds, livestock water, wildlife ponds, small lakes, camps, farms, and off-grid properties, the SD1-BB provides dependable subsurface aeration without trenching AC power to the pond. It helps increase dissolved oxygen, reduce stagnation, improve water clarity, reduce odors, support fish health, and encourage natural biological breakdown of organic material.

Built on the SD-1 Solar Direct Aerator Platform

The SD-1 portion of this system is the same professional-grade solar aerator used in the SD-Series lineup. It uses a 3-phase brushless rocking piston compressor, a DB-36 stainless steel diffuser, high-efficiency solar conversion, automatic compressor cooling, over-pressure protection, and rugged top-of-pole solar racking. Unlike the standard SD-1 single-panel system, the SD1-BB is always supplied with two solar panels to support battery charging and extended operation.

48-Volt Battery Backup for Night and Bad Weather

The battery backup section is built around a 48-volt AGM battery bank using four batteries. This higher-voltage architecture improves efficiency compared with lower-voltage backup systems and provides reserve power for night operation and multi-day poor-weather conditions. The system is designed for 24/7 aeration with reserve capacity when sunlight is limited.

Smart Controls for Runtime, Temperature, and Battery Protection

The proprietary control system provides digital time-clock functionality for scheduled operation and full runtime control. It also monitors enclosure temperature and automatically manages ventilation to protect the electronics, compressor, fan, and battery system. Low-voltage shutdown helps protect the battery bank from excessive discharge.

Industrial-Grade Construction and Serviceability

The SD1-BB is built with industrial-style controls, organized wire management, stainless steel hardware, screened air inlets and exhaust ports, a durable powder-coated enclosure, MPPT solar charge control with Bluetooth, and easy-clean magnetic air intake screens. The cabinet is designed for clean installation, service access, and long-term outdoor reliability.

The customer supplies a 3-inch Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 steel mounting pole with a 3.5-inch outside diameter. Do not use plastic pipe or tubing for the solar mounting pole.
