Starting an aeration system too quickly can rapidly disrupt a stratified pond. The lower layer of water below the thermocline often contains less dissolved oxygen than the upper layer and may contain gases such as hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide. Mixing a pond too aggressively can stress fish and other aquatic life.
The SD-SSC is the solar-direct slow start control option for U.S. Solar Mounts SD-Series Aerators. It is designed to automatically manage startup by limiting initial runtime and gradually increasing aeration over a controlled startup period.
This option is factory installed and tested before shipment. It is only available as a factory-installed add-on for compatible SD-Series Solar Direct Aerators.
No manual slow-start schedule. No separate field wiring. No daily return trips.

How It Works
Once activated, the SD-SSC:
- Starts the aeration system at minimal runtime
- Gradually increases operation over a 14-day startup period
- Transitions automatically to normal solar-direct operation
This controlled progression allows harmful gases to vent and dissolved oxygen levels to stabilize, reducing biological shock to the pond.

The SD-SSC is not a universal plug-in controller. It is an integrated factory-installed option for compatible SD-Series Solar Direct Aerators.
Because it is installed and tested during production, the control is matched to the system before shipment. This reduces installation complexity and provides a cleaner, more reliable startup solution for solar-direct aeration.
