Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What size pond is the SD1 designed for?
A: The SD1 is designed to aerate ponds up to approximately 1 acre, depending on depth, layout, and sunlight conditions. If you need a larger or multiple diffuser system, you can view all available options in our Solar Aerators category, including the SD2 and SD4 models.
Q: What is the difference between the single panel and dual panel versions?
A: The single panel version includes one solar panel and is ideal for standard sunlight conditions. The dual panel version provides increased solar input for extended runtime and improved performance. A dual panel setup is recommended for ponds that require winter aeration.
Q: Does this system require grid power or batteries?
A: No. The SD1 Solar Direct Aerator operates entirely on solar power using the included controller and does not require grid electricity or battery storage.
Q: Is this system suitable for DIY installation?
A: Yes. The SD1 is designed for straightforward DIY installation. Basic mechanical skills and standard tools are recommended.
Q: What maintenance is required?
A: Maintenance is minimal. Periodically clean the solar panels, inspect the diffuser and air lines, and check the compressor intake filter about once per month. Keeping the intake filter clean helps ensure proper airflow and reliable long-term operation.
For larger ponds or additional diffuser coverage, explore our SD2 and SD4 solar aeration systems.

Excellent product, well built. Easy to assemble. May need a screen over the fan intake to stop wasps and the such. Time will tell.

5 Really works great!

I have a three year old 17 ft. deep 1 acre trout pond. Last year it was 3/4 covered with algae. I spoke to the company which was very helpful and installed their system last summer. It cleared up the algae and this year we have an algae free pond!

5 Impressive company
Posted by Lynn Hughes on 4th Jan 2022
This was the most impressive company I have ever worked with. I have been in the construction business for 40 years and have worked with countless companies. Eric was very professional and urged me to call him directly with any questions or concerns I may have during the whole process. The shipping crate alone told me I was dealing with a company that really cared about workmanship, being American made, and keeping the customer number 1. All of the components were quality, heavy duty and very easily assembled with simple, detailed instructions. The solar kit works awesome! I would highly recommend this company for their pond aeration systems and any other products they may sell. Thanks for everything.

5 SD-1 system
Posted by Russell on 22nd Oct 2021
I purchased an SD-1 system after speaking to customer service and getting a few questions answered. Customer service was very good and quickly answered all my questions. I ordered on line on a Thursday and my system arrived (Texas) on the following Tuesday! Wow what a great packing job. Everything arrived undamaged and complete. The components are really well made and of excellent quality. This system is made to last. Installation was easy and all components fit perfectly together. The only addition I added was bug screens over the ventilation openings because we have dirt dobber wasps in the south that invade any openings to nest. All metal components are high quality and hardware is very good stainless components. Installation was quick and the system worked immediately when in the sun. The air stone and weighted line are good quality and made to last. Service appears to be easy on all components and access to service is easy as well. This system is made to last for years and I highly recommend this product on all three accounts. Quality, speed of delivery and ease of installation.

5 Excellent product from a great company!
Posted by Jerry Skoda on 14th Aug 2021
I purchased an SLA-SD1 Solar Pond Aerator a month ago. I spoke to the service rep before I purchased ; he was very helpful and answered every question. My pond is a 1.5 acres, 17ft deep 3 year old trout pond. It gets a lot of fertility runoff and was half covered with algae. We bought an algae rake but could not keep ahead of it. The aerator was carefully packaged and the instructions were excellent. We started operating 2 weeks ago; the pond is clear of algae and the trout are happy (and so is my wife!). I would give this company 6 stars for their equipment and service!!! Best Regards, Gerald J. Skoda Woodbourne, NY
